Jesus said "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20, NLT)

Prior to our rebirth as a church, we were an overwhelmingly Caucasian congregation who spoke only English. When the church started, this would have described much of the City of Elgin. It is not the case anymore. Realizing that we didn't "look like" the city, particularly our neighborhood, we knew that concrete efforts had to be made to see our direction changed. Our goal is to have a congregation of attenders and members which is balanced in composition with Caucasians, Hispanics, and Other Races/Ethnicities of the World. We envision a church that is making obvious attempts to beomce a multicultural congregation.

Of the five strategic areas of our church's ministry, this may be the most challenging, simply because there has been very little to build on. BUT, we are committed and will see, with God's help, this goal reached. We have two focal points this year, one in reaching out to our Hispanic friends and neighbors; the other is responding to the peoples of the world moving to Elgin.
